Maritime court cooperates with university
Dalian Maritime Court signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Maritime University to establish a practice base in the court on July 14.
Wang Guohua, president of Shanghai Maritime University, introduced the university’s maritime law programs and related international exchanges.
The establishment of the practice base, Wang said, will significantly add to cultivation of legal talents, legal theory research and breaking of system barriers between university and society. It will also make it more convenient for students to do internships and take part in legal practical activities.
Yang Hongren, vice-president of Dalian Maritime Court, welcomed the delegation of the university pointing out that the new base provides more opportunity for maritime trial development and theoretical and practical innovation of maritime jurisdiction.
The maritime court needs the support of judicial theory, and theoretical and practical teaching at university should also be promoted by judicial practice, according to Yang.
The co-establishment of the practice base will also help promote the construction of an international maritime judicial center and the Dalian International Shipping Center and create a high-class platform for team-building and cultivation of creative talents, Yang said.
Yang added that in the future Dalian Maritime Court will hold a more active, open and practical attitude, trying to build a strong academic atmosphere and raise the exchange development level for better results.
At the ceremony, the two sides also exchanged ideas on legal practice and practical teaching, talent cultivation, and scientific research cooperation.
Dalian Maritime Court signed cooperation agreements with Dalian Maritime University in 2007 and Dalian Ocean University in 2012.
